Floam
Ok - has anyone purchased this stuff? Is it any good? The girls are begging me to buy it, you know, because I don't have ENOUGH craft stuff.
1/12/07 - Here's an alternative to Floam. It's non-toxic and it looks pretty decent. Go visit John at Funtastical Toys and tell him that Kate sent ya!
As of 12/19/05, I've closed the comments on this post. No more Floam!

Hmm.. never heard of it. But that commercial makes me want to buy, lol.
Does it smell? Does it leave behind streaky stuff? :)
Posted by: theinsider at August 29, 2005 02:57 PM
It looks icky-sticks to anything? i woud worry it would stay things.
Posted by: Rachel at August 29, 2005 03:07 PM
That just looks WEIRD! lol ;)
Posted by: Susan at August 29, 2005 03:39 PM
I've seen it at the craft store. It's basically the stuff from inside bean bag chairs with sticky stuff around it. I'd never find a use for it, but I'm sure the kids would have a lot of fun.
Posted by: marydell at August 29, 2005 07:25 PM
Dude, my daughter is also BEGGING me for this for her birthday. I watch the commercials and I'm like, WTF? You're going to stick this all over your toys and then what? She seriously has been asking for this for months.
Posted by: dave at August 29, 2005 07:29 PM
*raising hand* Yep, got some. I rate it a 3 on a 1 to 10 scale, 10 being great. My kids bored with it rather quickly...
Posted by: Theresa at August 29, 2005 08:00 PM
I seem to remember a similar product by a different name a few years ago. It stuck to everything and got hard. Perhaps it's being re-introduced? My kids really want it and I'm not too sure about it.
Posted by: Robin at August 31, 2005 12:52 PM
My son saw it on TV. He had to have it. I ordered it on July 10 for his birthday, July 16. It is August 31 and they are telling me it won't be shipped for 2 weeks yet. This is the same story they've been telling me for the last month. I think that it is criminal for a company to sell a product on TV, especially Nickolodean, to kids when they know that their backorders are over 2 months long.
Posted by: bill at August 31, 2005 10:27 PM
I guess one comment that I didn't make is that I think the company SUCKS!!!!!
Posted by: bill at August 31, 2005 10:30 PM
My grandson wants this stuff for his birthday. After reading these comments I don't believe that I would even consider this for him.
Posted by: bonnie at September 1, 2005 08:41 PM
I am getting the run around too. I ordered the stuff a few weeks ago and it still has not come. My son checks the mail everyday, sometimes multiple times a day. I think I will have to cancel the order.
Posted by: brian at September 6, 2005 09:14 PM
I ordered this stuff for my 5 year old daughter afer her begging for weeks. I ordered it 4 weeks ago and paid an extra $7.95 to have it shipped sooner. Still waiting, unfortunately my daughter waits anxiously each day for the mail to come, only to be disappointed. Sorry I ordered this stuff, I should have gone to the craft store and bought something similar.
Posted by: Carol at September 7, 2005 05:20 PM
I also ordered this on July 15th for my daughter who has been begging me for it for weeks. Seven weeks later it still has not arrived and I was told by customer service that it was backordered for an additional SIX WEEKS!!! I am considering contacting Discovery Kids and asking them how they can advertise something like this. My daughter keeps asking me when it will come.
Posted by: Susan at September 7, 2005 11:08 PM
Same problem with delivery here. Ordered back in July. First time I called (mid august), they told me 1 more week. Next time I called, they said weren't sure, would get back to me. HMMMMM. I also think they charged my card. I hadn't thought about what the other person brought up - since when does one encourage their kids to stick junk all over their toys lol! That advertising must be great to suck so many kids in. My kids begged incessantly too.

I've seen it on eBay for reasonable prices, and with fair S&H charges. At least on eBay you can check the seller's performance rating and see whether they're reputable. A positive feedback of about 98% is usually a good sign that you'll receive it when they say you will. ~ Mike
Posted by: Mike at September 12, 2005 12:46 AM
Does anyone have the customer service number? We too are trapped in the backorder situation and since they haven't charged my card yet I don't have a number to call. I haven't seen the commercials lately to catch the 800#.
Posted by: Lisa at September 12, 2005 11:07 AM
My Neice (3) loves it and left it at my house. Let me tell you I think it's fun! I love playing with it! She's upset that she left it here but, she'll get it back tomorrow. My sister didn't order it through the web sight, they got it at a local drug store. They were thinking about ordering it but after reading these and letting her know they won't order it through the web sight.

Floam - As Seen On TV - WARNING - Consumer Alert
RUN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!
I ordered floam via the "As Seen on TV" website.
The order page is TRICKY.
It takes your payment info first, then leads you through a bunch of upgrades. I fat fingered the mouse and hit 'add' instead of 'continue' (...oops )
My $19.00 order jumped to $69.00
I thought I could edit at checkout, BUT NO...
They do not let you review your cart to view items, or see shipping cost before the purchase is confirmed.
When I called them, I got the run around. (Very Snide & Snotty)
AND NOW>>>
Im getting junk mail from them
Internet Gambling from a site that sold me kids stuff!
Shady folks at "AS SEEN ON TV"
I will never order from them again.
Posted by: kelley Bell at September 13, 2005 08:45 AM
My 3 yr old son runs to the tv and tries to grag the floam off the screen while yelling "I want that, I want that!" I say back "Put it on your wish list", but I'm thinking "No way."
I just posted a request to nick.com to stop airing the horrible commercials. If you feel the same way please let them know it.

Just wanted to say I'm in the same boat as everyone else. I ordered mid July (I think the 17th) for my son's birthday on August 3. I called at the end of July, and was told that due to the overwhelming response (she said they had like 30,000 outstanding orders or some nonsense), it was on back order, and taking an additional 3-4 weeks. Still haven't gotten it (almost 2 months later).
Tell me - why, why, WHY do they continue advertising something they don't have??? AND, why in the world do they trick you into ordering MORE (I ended up with a $69 order for a $19 product like that other poor poster) if they don't have ANY of the stuff???
I would cancel the order, but my son runs to get the mail (even on Sundays) waiting for the stuff to get here!
I'm off to email Nickelodeon!
Posted by: Mindy at September 13, 2005 04:51 PM
I forgot to add...
to the person who wanted a phone number - if you go to www.floam.com and click on the tiny, tiny "customer service" link at the very, very bottom of the page, you get a pop-up window with a customer service (non-800) number...
1-920-966-6600
Their ordering toll free number is not on the website.

Man... And I thought waiting just three weeks was bad. The kids check every day at our house, too and so it looks like I'm just going to have to tell them they *might* get it by Christmas and to cool their jets.
Posted by: trish at September 13, 2005 06:36 PM
Ok the 800# on T.V. is 1-800-439-9563 for those of you who need to call. I was going to order this stuff for my son's B-Day but after reading these comments I don't think I will. His B-Day is in 3 weeks so I probably will not get it in time!! Thanks for the info!

Remember GAK? I've got older kids and Floam use to be at Wal-Mart along with GAK.I have a recipe for GAK and I might have one for Floam.Gak is a bunch of slimy goo and it will harden,Floam is like it but with the little foam beads. Not as slimy. It probably is more expensive now that Nick has rights to it.Neat stuff, but play with it in the kitchen, the slimy goop doesn't come ot of carpet very well.
Posted by: RD at September 14, 2005 02:34 PM
does anyone know where to get the faux floam?
Posted by: Sheri R at September 14, 2005 03:33 PM
I can't say this enough... Order from Ebay! You will get it in time for birthdays etc. if the seller says it ships Priority then you will get it in 2-3 days!!! Make sure they have it in their hands to ship then Ask for an upgrade in shipping might cost ya! especially if you need it overnight for a birthday!! Had to help!
Posted by: Jenn at September 14, 2005 03:51 PM
I am so glad that I found these comments!
My daughter has been asking about this stuff daily, and I put it into Google for the website, and instead ended up here first to see what people were saying.
Is everyone ordering from the www.floam.com website or from other "as seen on tv" type websites? Probably doesn't make a difference - if they don't have it, they don't have it.
I'm going to go check eBay right now.

My 7 year old niece has been begging me for months to buy her Floam. I decided not to get it for her for her b-day (Aug 30th) but I thought I would get it for her for Christmas. I am glad that I found this site and got the good info about ordering Floam. I think I will just skip purchasing it and think of something else to get her. THANK YOU!

I ordered on the 22nd of august for my neices birthday and i also ended up with a $69 order. I called and changed it, but they told me the product would ship in one week. Still nothing so after calling the non 800 customer service number several times and getting no answer i emailed the company with my order# and cancelled the order. They were rude at the customer service contact number too. I think that if they don't have the product and are that far behind then maybe they should stop advertisement for a while don't u guys?
Posted by: Jen at September 15, 2005 04:15 PM
***Hey guys... add me to the BUG-Mommy list :o)***
But hey, as times are tough and I can't afford $70 fun in a tub... I'm making my own.
Yup making it at home with stuff you can buy anywhere. (glue and borax laundry soap)
Ever looked on the web for a homemade silly putty recipe?
Welp' look for one, make it and add foam beads - heck lil' plastic ones I'm sure will work too.
Sure beats Nick-cult-olodeon's version :o)

I just got off the phone with customer service, and like the rest of you I was told that we have to wait another 4 weeks!! My son's birthday is Thursday! We ordered it over 1 month ago! I think I am going to take Sheri R's advice and go to E-bay!
Posted by: Tracy at September 16, 2005 12:39 PM
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that is having this problem. I was beginning to wonder if they just lost my order and I was getting ready to order it again. I found this message board first and I'm glad I did. I feel so sorry for all of the disappointed children after they check the mailbox daily. Shame on this company!!!
Posted by: Julie at September 16, 2005 12:41 PM
yea my kids what me to buy it too
no way now with the negitive comments
but I'm an ebay nut so I did the search
there are 2 recipes for sale $ 2.50 and $1.35
free shipping its worth a try
Posted by: vero at September 16, 2005 02:59 PM
My son too checks the mail for it every day. I ordered July 15 and its now Sept 16, pretty freakin rediculous. So I called them and they said it shipped this week. WTF? 8 weeks? I can't possibly imagine how they could be that far backordered, its not 1922, we have the technology to make it quickly, I'm just baffled.
On the bright side, it's a good lesson in patience for the little one. I little bit of life lesson, too-- research those with whom you plan to do business. I just wish I had done that in this instance ;)

SAME HERE!! Stay away from the FLOAM!! My order is like everyone else. I ordered it for our daughter the first week in July and it is now September 16 and still no floam..I called the 800 number to order and still have not been charged or recieved Floam. Has anyone been charged for the floam and not recived it? I still have seen no charges on my credit card. And they did try and sell upgrades which I refused. I told them to ship only the product advertised for 19.95
Maybe thats why they didnt charge/ship me the FLOAM..Feel like I have been FLOAMED!
I too am calling and e-mailing Nickolodean to let them know of my disgust with the "Nick Floam"
Posted by: Aaron at September 17, 2005 12:25 AM
i am 12 and realy want it but i can find it if i can find it and for all the people that dident get it i feel sorry for you and i will tell you if it is good if you could just tell me where it is please
Posted by: casey at September 18, 2005 09:17 PM
Has anyone tried the homemade recipes from E-Bay and are they any good? I know some of the recipes call for borax, which is harmful to children if swallowed. So that doesn't make sense if you want it for a 3 year old.
Posted by: sheila at September 19, 2005 11:14 AM
Like so many others, my kids called me into the living room every time the commercial came on, so I decided to surprise them and order it on August 22nd. I was also tricked into over-ordering--which I decided was okay, since the stuff does look like a lot of fun. But then it didn't arrive and the kids were at the mailbox every day. I called customer service today and they said another 2-4 weeks. (6-8 total!) They explained that the response was so overwhelming they were swamped and quickly became backordered.
I can forgive the backorder due to overwhelming response (after watching the add, I wanted to play with the stuff) but the trick during ordering still bugs me. I'll just wait and surprise the kids when it comes. I hope it's worth it.
Posted by: Greg at September 19, 2005 01:20 PM
For those of you that have bought this "Floam" stuff at retail stores, what stores did you happen to find it at? My 3 year old son has also seen the commercials and he wants it. His birthday is also coming up in a few days. From prior posted comments I will not be buying from the website or through the 800#.
Posted by: Kathy at September 19, 2005 09:40 PM
This stuff was for sale in the playdough aisle years ago and never sold because it is gross, smells bad, and doesn't act as cool as they say. This is a fantastic example for Marketing 101; I can't believe how it is selling just with a change of marketing method. Not many responses to tell you how crappy this stuff is; nobody gets the shipment to find out! We need a recipe on the internet like there is for play dough
Posted by: Renee at September 20, 2005 09:51 AM
I bought FLOAM - the brand name at AC Moore Craft Store Last night. Each color is sold separately in a 3.5oz containers. It was more expensive @ $7.99 each.
Posted by: TC at September 21, 2005 09:15 AM
I must say I was Quite Surprised at Floam! This Stuff is Really Neat! Its Not Messy, It Doesn't Smell, It Stays Together Nicely. I think its Much better than Playdough! When you hold Floam it feels oily, but put it down and your hands are dry. This stuff is really nice. I was really surprised.
Posted by: TC at September 21, 2005 10:38 AM
Yup...got stuck into ordering this stuff too for my son and neice. I also got stuck into ordering too much because the cart was not editable at the end. I slowly got in touch with the company via email and they promised me "free rush shipping" for my order. So, I said I would take the "free shipping". They wrote me back to correct me that it wasn't "free shipping" just "rush" shipping but, the product was on back order and not available for 6 weeks.
I think I will take the suggestion in this blog to make our own with a silly putty recipe and foam beads. I'm sure the kids will have more fun with that anyway. Then I won't have to pay 1/3 the cost of the product for shipping. WHAT A RIP OFF!!!!
Posted by: Kelly at September 21, 2005 06:09 PM
...Add me to the list of suckers...my daughter has been waiting for two months....the customer service number is useless and expensive...and there is no 800 number or email address for customer service....I don't think this stuff is ever really going to be shipped....and I'm not happy about a bunch of criminals, who are allowed to advertise on Nickelodeon, having my credit card number...this is an outrage....I am going to make it my personal mission to find these thieves and put the fear of God into them....this is a criminal offense
Posted by: Rick at September 21, 2005 10:15 PM
I am a parent, a frustrated Floam customer, and also a journalist at the Denver Post newspaper. I've been looking into tracking the Floam company down, but they've got a pretty good veil around them. If anyone would like to talk to me on the record or has any details about where the company is located, I'd be interested in hearing from you.
Posted by: DG at September 22, 2005 11:02 AM
OH MY GOD! I ordered this stuff 4 weeks ago, and it still won't come! I am 8 yrs old and i'm in 3rd grade. I hate this bunch of stupid liars, if you look at Floam.com, there is a little TV viewing the commercial over and over. They say only 2-4 weeks of checking the mailbox, but i'll bet it's a billion years.
Posted by: Matthew Manner at September 22, 2005 05:31 PM
I placed and order for my daughter several weeks ago and have yet to receive it. I believe that it a huge scam. I enrages me that they would solicit themselves to children and not deliver a product. This is criminal.
Posted by: Amanda at September 22, 2005 07:18 PM
I too was told I was charged for $60.00+ when all I ordered what was being advertised on tv for $19.95. After waiting since August 4th, and told yet another 6 weeks at best, I cancelled the order and have now started on a mission to get a hold of the attorney general's office to report it. I would suggest that all that feel that they have been taken "ripped off" should do the same.

I ordered this stuff in June- I still haven't seen it and my credit card was charged. I went on the Nickelodeon web sit to complain to them, but I couldn't find a "contact us" link. This is ridiculous- I'm going to try to contact the Better Business Bureau
Posted by: Kari at September 23, 2005 10:54 PM
I am in the same situation. Floam that never comes! I cancelled my order, via email so I hope it actually cancels! I found a recipe on the web to make it at home. Its cheap and very easy! It totally quenched my kids desire to buy it! 1 tsp Borax, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup glue, food coloring, 1 cup styrofoam beads (grate from a packaging box) mix borax and 1/2c warm water, seperate bowl mix 1/2c glue, 1/2 c water, food coloring, mix all together in a ziplock bag, knead 7 minutes, add styrofoam beads...wala! Done:)

Anyone try this recipe I've seen? Does it work? I'm refusing to order this overpriced stuff on tv..but may go to ebay if this doesn't work...
RECIPE: 1tsp Borax, 1c warm water, 1/2c glue, food coloring, 1c styrofoam beads. Mix borax and 1/2c warm water in a bowl, in a separate bowl- mix 1/2c glue, 1/2c water, & food coloring. Mix both bowls of ingredients in a ziplock bag, knead 7 minutes, add styrofoam beads....

Thank you so much for the valuable information. I was going to order this for my grandson for his 3rd birthday. Same thing, he saw it on Nick and wants it really bad. I was thinking about ordering because I can't find any in town but now I won't. I may try Ebay.

One added problem with ordering Floam..........my grandson wanted Floam and we tried to order it. Went through the website with it's asking for cc first and then updates with no way of editing or cancelling order. Our order came to over $74. Their spyware completely shut down our computer and caused us another $120.00. Be ware, folks. This is not a reputable site.

I am so glad I checked this website first. I already had the Floam site up and was getting ready to get started. These comments are so helpful.
Posted by: Jennifer at September 26, 2005 08:15 PM
Add me to the growing list of kids begging post TV commercial. My son has been asking for it every day (turning 3 on Oct.4 and will be floamless I assume). I went to the "As seen on TV" site and fell into the up ordering trap and was charged for Floam at $19.99 and expanded Floam for $24.99 plus shipping and called to complain as I never had a chance to cancel. This must happen often as it took 3 tries to get through the Customer Service line due to all lines busy. On the third I waited for @40 minutes and was told that the shipping was at least 8 weeks out due to backlog so I had the order cancelled.
I then went onto WonderfulBuys.com where the site said instock and shipping within 24 hours. I thought it might be worth the $50 asking price. They have a "live customer service contact" option and while chatting I found out the website is a sham. 8 weeks shipping minimum. When I asked them why the website is showing blatant lies they told me it wasn't updated yet. Never-the-less I won't be buying there either.
As such I will calling TRU and those "As Seen On TV" stores at the mall until it arrives.

Gosh, I am so glad I read this post!! My daughter can't stop talking about the stuff. I noticed the ads on TV stopped, probably because they are so back ordered. I was looking for their website, and I found this list. I went to the floam.com, and I did not like the way they didnt have any information on their about shipping times or anything. I wonder if people on ebay actually have the stuff or if they are drop shipping from the company, which means more backorders!
If you guys ordered via credit card, you can contact your credit card company and have the charges reversed. One of the criteria that most of them use is shipping confirmation, if the company can't provide shipping info, you can most likely get a refund. Most cards have that protection. I would do it, that just isn't right.
Good luck all of you!

Can I tell you that I thought I was the only one having this problem- apparently not though. I ordered on July 11th for my little girl. The website is down right deceptive. The customer service group is snide and nasty. The whole way they do business I believe is unscrupulous. And by the way, the ads are still running on Nickelodeon as of today, Sept. 28. I just heard one this morning. This is a case for "Channel 2, Shame on YOU!" or something like it. They should be exposed.
Posted by: Patti at September 28, 2005 06:47 PM
unfortunately i found this site after i just purchased the floam for my 5 year old who always races to the t.v. when the commercial comes on. i to just spent $74.95 due to the deceiving website. i thought that when you upgraded to the $24.95 it replaced the $19.95 and there is no way to edit your order. Do they notify you before charging your credit card? or do they just ship the product then charge without or knowledge.
Posted by: Danielle at September 28, 2005 07:54 PM
I just wanted to say thank you all for your posts. My son is driving us all crazy - writing the 800# down on every available scrap of paper! The ad must still be running, because I had a fresh note tonight after work! I will either buy on e-bay or try one of the recipes listed above. Thanks again!

my mom ordered this for my 5 year old too. the sixty nine dollar order. at the beginning of july. still nothing!!! after many, many calls. They just charged her card though so maybe it is on its way? if not i am going to have her cancel and go through ebay. I think we should all start a petition to have this company shut down. email me if you would like to do so and i will do it. just send me all of your letters of complaint and i will forward them to the attorney general and to the better business bureau too.
Posted by: kris at September 28, 2005 10:25 PM
i had the same troubles and ended up complaining to the ftc. there are regulations about notifying customers when things are backordered and offering to let them cancel the order. you can file on the gov website.

ok, well basically what I attempted to suggest is for all of you having problems especially with the lying about shipping times & complaints about no toll free number to contact the Better Business Bureau and file an official complaint. Even if you do not want anything other than the product & the disapointment of the little ones running to check the mail every day you should still file complaints. Complaints with the BBB will help ensure that children of the future that are sucked in by the floam phenomenon (spelling?) will not be disapointed every day for months at a time while waiting. Keep track of details & of when you call the company, request from the compan to reimburse you for your long distance charges for any uneccesary calls you have to make, if the refuse, request that with your complaint to the BBB it may take a couple fo weeks but who cares, after waiting for 2 months I would have worked up enough steam to wait a couple weeks to make sure that this problem is fixed. ESPECIALLY the deceptive website that does not allow you to change your cart & takes payment before order is placed you may want to contact the internet fraud something or other I forget what it is called, but they allow you to actually look to see if other complaints have been filed against an internet company through them which is very bad business for them since it is available to other consumers.

well, I agree with all of you. After waiting 12 weeks I finally received my floam order today. I like everyone else ended up with a $69 order. Only from a tricky phone clerk who offered an upgrade for only $5 more and double the floam. Never did she say - In addition to the 19.95 order you can also place another order for 24.95 plus another 7.95 shipping - would have passed on it. My son does seem to like it, but definately not worth the $69 - oh and they say you can return with a 1800 number found in your package --- hmm no 1800 number in my package.

hello everyone..i ordered this stuff from the website for my kids over two months ago. i dont see my kids often because they live with their mother...everytime they visit they ask about the floam.. i have yet to receive it. however, i need some help; during the processing of the order, the website offers upgrades such as extra floam of various colors. i went ahead and upgraded and the order was over 60 dollars!!! needless to say my kids witnessed me make the purchase and were quite happy. my checking account today reflected the charge for the floam and put me in overdraft status! i lost my job recently and now i am over 120 dollars (with overdraft fees) in the hole because this damn company took two months to process the order! there was no confirmation page at the time of the order so i figured it didnt get charged. who can i talk to or is it hopeless to try and get my money back..its friday afternoon and they are closed for the weekend..who should i contact come monday morning..? please help.

I cancelled my order via email this morning after not being able to reach anyone at their customer service number and I also tried the owners number listed in the post above. I encountered the same thing, after not being able to back out of the order entry screen when it hit the 69.00 mark. I also fell into their trap of not realizing upgrading to 24.95 package also INCLUDED the 19.95 package and EACH with individual 7.95 shipping charges. I have advised them I will contact me credit card company to refuse the charge and I will refuse any shipment attempt, shouild they choose to ignore my email cancelling the order.
I also will be honest with my children and tell them this is not a reputable company and we will learn buyer beware and be careful with our hard earned money. They will get over the disappointment and maybe everytime they blast the commercial it will reinforce the message to the children that some people and companies and products are not what they appear to be.
I am disgusted with Floam and with Nick for allowing this caliber of company to adverstise on their channel.

Borax is toxic, FYI. I like the idea of making my own, but I'm going to leave out the borax and probably substitute a non-toxic preservative like salt. If you search the web for "borax toxic" you'll see what I mean. There are some countries in Europe where Borax cannot be sold legally because of its harmfulness to children.

I also believe floam to be a scam. I ordered it, was forced by the ordering form to pay twice as much as I had intended and then the product never came. Has anyone contacted the attorney general on these people?

After weeks of my 8 year old daughter asking me for this every time we saw a commercial for this crap, I finally gave in and went to floam.com. I too got caught in the upgrade scam and ended up with a $60.00 order. Now a month later, her birthday on Wednesday and her asking me daily if it is here I am going to try to cancel my order. Something needs to be done. I haven't waited this long for an order since I ordered her doll from mytwinn.com and they ended up bankrupt.

RUN FROM THIS RIPOFF !!!!!!!! After 10 weeks of my girls checking the mail everyday, the "24.95" family pack of 6 JUMBO sized tubs arrived on 9/30. What a horrible disappointment. In July, I too was snookered into an "upgrade" via the FLOAM website and called immed. to correct the bogus website ordering. I was on hold for 20 min. and the clerk offered me the 6-pack + s/h due to the bad website system. I accepted and verified that the 6-pack included the "double sized" JUMBO tubs of FLOAM. I had to make sure that there was enough for two girls. Yes, yes I was told. Now for the clincher........Upon opening our small box, the 6-pack JUMBO sized (double the 'large sized' tubs as seen on TV) tubs were not JUMBO at all. They are the same size as seen on TV before the commercial offers the JUMBO sized sales pitch and the tubs magically expand. I spent 25 min. on hold yesterday & asked the clerk if I'd be receiving another box in the mail, which would "double" my order. She informed me that she was very sorry for MY misunderstanding of the commercial but that the tubs we received were the ONLY sized tubs of FLOAM available. I told her that "double sized" means twice as much or times two, however she wants to fix it. She then happily told me that the regular sized tubs of "FLOAM" are the size of "Play-doh" containers so the tubs I received were double that. I asked her where I could order or buy some "Play-doh" sized cans and she reluctantly informed me that I would not be able to find any, as they don't exist. She said that as far as she knows, the FLOAM co. uses the word JUMBO and large to describe the same sized tub. She agreed that the advertising is deceptive but that she was sorry, she only worked for a third-party that performs customer service for the FLOAM mfg. She told me that there is a 30 money-back guarantee but that I'll pay the original s/h fee. I told her that I didn't want to waste any more $ returning a product, I just wanted my original "double sized" or "JUMBO" order. She told me she could do nothing to help me. I told her I'd contact whatever agency I could to help get the word out about this RIPOFF. My daughters are now learning a valuable lesson in consumerism. They're ready to write a letter to a consumer reporter at one of our AZ TV stations or a letter to the editor. I wonder if Elliot Spitzer, the NY Atty. Gen., would be willing to help out some little kids and some mad mommies (dad's too!)

The same thing that happened to everyone on here happened to me...I called the number on the asseenontvnetworks.com main site and the lady told me to call the number on the Astonish site, which is a QVC customer service number, because she couldn't do anything about my order.....and she was very rude...I haven't yet been charged but the $19.95 amount turned into $47.00...I have no idea what to do but to keep the amount in my account incase they do decide to charge me...This really sucks!

Write to the Florida Attorney General (the state where the "owner" is based i believe)- the website is www.myflorida.com or call the fraud hotline at 1-866-966-7226
The more people who let them know what this company is doing, the better they are able to let the public know and handle it under the law.
Anyone think of letting one of the National News programs know?
Write to the television stations who carry this commercial....
I'm sending this link to the attorney general to let them know how many people are not happy about this company who believes they are above the law.

Also, keep in mind that if you have paid by credit card you can call and report the deceptive delivery you recieved and reverse the charge. It is a little tougher if you used a Debit card but not impossible to do the same.
I immediately reversed the charge when I ordered and got snookered into the $60 upgrade and got out scott free.

FLOAM
INGREDIANTS:
2-Tsp. Borax (available in laundry aisle at your grocery store)
½-Cup Water (Tap water is fine)
¼-Cup White Glue (available in Craft/Department/Discount Stores)
¼-Cup Water (Tap water is fine)
1-Zip Lock Bag (1 qt. Bag is best)
Food Coloring (Optional- but kids like colors)
Styrofoam Beads (about 2 - bathroom 3 oz. cups full for above)
MIXING DIRECTIONS -
1. Dissolve 2-Tsp. Borax Completely in ½-cup (4 oz.) water.
2. In a separate bowl mix ¼-cup (2 oz.) white glue and ¼-cup (2 oz.) water. Add food coloring of your choice to this solution.
3. Pour the glue solution into a zip lock bag. Then add 1-Tbs. of the Borax/water solution to the glue solution. At this point you will think that this stuff will never come out of this bag.
4. Add Styrofoam Beads to the mixture to make “Floam”.
5. Seal bag and knead by hand until thoroughly mixed. Let stand about 15 minutes, and then knead by hand again. Take out of bag when the gel (“Floam”) separates easily from the inside bag walls. It will have the consistency of dough.
When not in use store in sealed plastic bag to prevent evaporation.

My mother in law bought it for my 6-turning-7-year old's birthday. She got it at WALGREEN'S. Said they had 4 colors - pink, green, yellow & blue. Interesting stuff.
I don't think she would have spent a lot on it, but I'm not sure how much it was. But the problem is, my son was bored yesterday morning and wound up "gluing" it to his ceiling "accidentally". TWENTY-THREE TIMES.
We can't get it off - by the time we discovered it, it was dry. We tried washing it, scraping it, freezing it. Any ideas?
BEWARE - don't let it stick and dry to paint unless you want it to STICK to paint!! I can't find anything on line about how to get it off. Any ideas?

I've never heard of this Floam stuff before... Guess not having all the cable channels pays off! My daughter's Brownie Troop made this tonight and I was curious so a-Googling I went.
Found this site and had to respond to the person who said Borax was so toxic: "Boric acid and borax are commonly used in ant traps and for cockroach control. Boric acid and sodium borate (borax) is potentially toxic to people and pets. However serious poisonings in humans have been reported very rarely from a single acute ingestion. Serious toxicity is more likely with repeated exposure to raw or abraded skin or from repeated ingestions. I am not aware of any reports of toxicity in the avian species from exposure to boric acid or borax. Boric acid/borax used to be widely used in dusting powders and in a borax and honey preparation that was given to teething infants on their soothers. These preparations are no longer recommended for use in children."
If you want to read the material safety data sheet on it, go to this site and see for yourself:
http://www.borax.com/pdfs/dist/MSDS_Borax_Decahydrate.pdf
Routes of exposure: Inhalation is the most significant route of exposure in occupational and other settings. Dermal exposure is not usually a concern because Borax is poorly absorbed through intact skin.
Ingestion: Products containing Borax are not intended for ingestion. Borax has a low acute toxicity. Small amounts (e.g., a teaspoon) swallowed accidentally are not likely to cause effects; swallowing amounts larger than that may cause gastrointestinal symptoms.
Inhalation: Occasional mild irritation effects to the nose and throat may occur from inhalation of Borax dust at levels greater than 10 mg/m3.
Eye contact: Borax is non-irritating to the eyes in normal industrial use.
Skin contact: Borax does not cause irritation to intact skin.

I bought this stuff, my kids do love it, but I was dissapointed in the consistency of the different tubs. One was too slimy, the others... too dry. BY THE WAY, The recipe above...leave out the beads and you have SLIME!!! Try it!

I too got suckered in. The tubs looked huge on TV and for $19.95, they said they would double the order plus give me a free tub of green, I thought that might be OK. Well, I got my order after 6 weeks and it's approx. 8 oz. per tub. They said the regular tubs are half that (so 4oz.?) "like a small container of play doh" they told me--you know the trial size. Anyway, the "jumbo" size of green turns out to be the exact same size of the other tubs and with shipping it's about $28.00 total. I'll be sending an email on to the FTC to let them know how sneaky they are.

If anyone knows where to complain about this huge rip off product, please let me know! The website is tricky and deceptive. So I ordered by phone which was completely automated..they even tried to sell me a vacation! There was no total given --I had no idea how much I was spending. No toll-free "customer service " number. The stuff is not pliable, shrinks when used, dries out completely once open, even when you reseal in its "airtight" container. I feel so taken advantage by the commercial and the little pamphlet that comes with it to show you all you can create. It is the most worthless purchase I have ever made and my 5 year old is extremely disappointed. I will never buy from the company again. I may return the entire load to the return address that was on the package label. DON'T BUY FLOAM!

This company needs to be stopped. This is the most fraudulent thing I've ever seen. Between making these poor little kids wait 6 to 8 weeks for the merchandise and then sending extra kits that weren't even ordered, then KEEPING THE SHIPPING CHARGES when you send the whole things back I have tracked them down to an Oshkosh, Wisconsin address. The real name of the company is GREENSTONE SAS INTERNET.

They are the biggest crooks I've ever seen. I am turning them into the state attorney generals office and suggest you do the same. They are DECEPTIVE CROOKS. They over charged me. It took me 3 months to get it. The tubs are small. They say that they will upsize you. I can't imagine it. I contacted the customer service folks. they are rude and unresponsive. They need to be shut down ASAP. It's hurting the kids. If your kids really want it, Walmart has it for around $7 a bucket but they are really small. Please contact the state attorneys and turn them in!

I tried ordering this Floam stuff in September for the neighbor kid who really wants the stuff. The automated thing never gave me a confirmation for a total and tried to upsell and all the stuff that everyone else has experienced. I never had the opportunity to cancel or give a final authorization...I was spooked. I called the toll number for customer service and demanded they cancel the order and never charge my account...well a week later they charged my account. I contacted the BBB with the address information one of the previous people in this long list gave...They were very helpful...Now finally in December, just today, my refund arrived for the full amount I was charged. My case with the BBB started on October 19th. I would hate to have had to try to resolve this on my own.
If anyone needs it... the return address on the envelope was
"FLOAM"
35 Wisconsin St
Oshkosh, WI 54901
the address on the check was:
SAS GROUP, INC.
clearing accoung
po box 1276
Oshkosh, WI 54903-1276
everything was handwritten, not machine done...real person addressed envelope and real person wrote out the actual check....
at least I got my money back and learned to be more careful about ordering on the internet from a place like this.
Thanks to everyone who provided information for the rest of us...good luck with your endeavors in this whole floamish adventure

HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE "FLOAM"
(Without the beads, this also makes Slime!)
INGREDIENTS:
1-Tsp. Borax (available in laundry aisle at your grocery store)
½-Cup Water (Tap water is fine)
¼-Cup White Glue (available in Craft/Department/Discount Stores)
¼-Cup Water (Tap water is fine)
1-Zip Lock Bag (1 qt. Bag is best)
Food Coloring (Optional- but kids like colors)
Styrofoam Beads (about 2 - bathroom 3 oz. cups full for above)
MIXING DIRECTIONS -
1. Dissolve 1-Tsp. Borax Completely in ½-cup (4 oz.) water.
2. In a separate bowl mix ¼-cup (2 oz.) white glue and ¼-cup (2 oz.) water. (1/2 cup each=1 cup of slime). Add a couple of drops of food coloring of your choice to this solution.
3. Pour the glue solution into a zip lock bag. Then add 1-Tbs. of the Borax/water solution to the glue solution. At this point you will think that this stuff will never come out of this bag.
4. Add Styrofoam Beads to the mixture. These beads can usually be found at any craft store.
5. Seal bag and knead by hand until thoroughly mixed. Let stand about 15 minutes, and then knead by hand again. Take out of bag when the gel separates easily from the inside bag walls. It will have the consistency of dough.
**Note from Rita:
I originally had the recipe listed with 2tbs of Borax, but then received an email from someone who tried this and said it came out too firm, so I looked around the net again and found another recipe with 1 tbs of borax instead. You might want to try that. If anyone has found a better variation, please email me!
Tips I found on the net:
Keep your slime in a sealed bag in the fridge when not playing with it. It may eventually dry out or grow mold. Just throw it away & start again! It should last up to around two months maybe longer as long as keep properly.
DO NOT INGEST.
Not good for carpets or furniture!
Wash your hands before playing with homemade slime (so it doesn't grow mold) AND AFTER PLAY.
Explanation I found on the net:
Borax acts as a crosslinking agent or "connector" for the glue (polyvinyl acetate) molecules. The glue molecules join together to form even larger molecules called polymers: result - a thickened gel very similar to slime.
If you have access to a chemical supply house, try a 4% solution of polyvinyl alcohol instead of glue for a less rubbery polymer. It will be more transparent & show off color better.
Disclaimer 1#: I have not personally made this stuff for my kids yet, but will let you know when I do and if it actually works.
Disclaimer #2: This recipe is posted all over the internet. I did not make this up nor do I claim any success with said recipe. I also cannot vouch for the safety of these ingredients.
Here is a site with the Styrofoam Beads for sale, they may also have them on Ebay i didn't look.

My daughter has been begging for Floam since July. I never buy things from TV. So she didn't get it. Of course the child ask SANTA for some, so of course she has to get it. Lucky for me I found it at Wal Mart for about $6.00 a tub (8oz). Considering the cost S&H cost and the back order situation I think I got lucky. I bought her 4 tubs and I spent around $26.00. Wal Mart carries the stuff in the Stationary Dept. So if any of you have kids that put the stuff on their wish list. I recommend Wal Mart. Even with all the bad comments I had to get it, you know that SANTA always has to come through.

Thank you so much to everyone for taking the time to post your bad experiences with this company...I wish I'd found this forum BEFORE ordering...but I'll be taking whatever steps I can to report and stop them, too.
Posted by: Judy at December 12, 2005 10:55 PM
I also had the same bad experience as many of you that order the FLOAM product. I placed the order for the $19.95 special listed on the website, and it immediately takes your billing information. It names a few specials running that I didn't ask for, and then it states your order has been processed. It stated my order was now $69.00 instead of the $25.95 it should have been, which included shipping and handling. After holding on the non-toll free # for 30 minutes they said they couldn't view my order for another 24 to 48 hours and I would have to call back to cancel. I have a feeling this is going to be a mess, and after reading all the comments I wish I would have stayed away from FLOAM. I am going to cancel with my Credit Card company immediately. I also sent 2 messages via email to customerservice@thillco.com and have not heard anything on this order. Thank you for the postings.

Does anyone know the exact name that appears on the credit card billing statement? I was just "taken" for $88 and I want to provide my credit card co. with the exact name so it doesn't slip through. Thanks for the posts.

just found this website and wanted to share my FLOAM story...I finally caved to the kids begging and pleading last friday and chose to order via the 800# on nick...I was NEVER given a confirmation or total. I immediately called the customer service number on the website which is 920-966-6600 and was total order not officially in system for 48 to 72 hours. I just called back today and after almost 30 minutes of "waiting" (BE PATIENT DON'T HANG UP EVEN THROUGH THE LONG SILENCES) I was able to cancel my order. In all fairness the rep was polite she told me they were a fulfillment company in Wisconsin and she gave me a confirmation number. The name of the fulfillment company is THILL. She said the that the credit card charge would show up as FLOAM (thankfully my card has not been billed yet and they supposedly bill upon shipping) She also told me--for what it's worth--that there was a big backorder problem but that it has been cleared up...thankfully I will never know....now I just need to find this stuff in Walmart or Walgreens so my kids won't be to bummed.....Good Luck to All

To all who have posted, Please contact the federal consumer protection agency at www.ftc.gov/ftc/consumer.htm! The amount of complaints on this website alone would have stopped them from being able to advertise nationally. Also, could lead to major fines! Also contact your individual states consumer protection agency. Many states have hotlines. Get this number from your state capital's operator. Good Luck! I've done it before and it works.

I forgot to mention if you are charged for additional items that you didn't want you can cancel those items on a credit card without cancelling the whole order.

Well, as I sit here on hold with the company (long distance mind you), I'm getting angrier & angrier. I bought this stuff last night. I ended up being charged $65 for a $25 product because they don't give you the opportunity to review your order before they close the sale. I wanted it before Christmas so I checked rush delivery, but then after they've closed the sale, they disclose that it will be 4 to 8 weeks for delivery! If they can't get it to you before Christmas, don't you think they should tell you this BEFORE they take your money!!!??????
And over $20 for shipping???? I'm furious!!!
I've now been on hold for over 15 minutes!!!! Wouldn't be a big deal if the bogus company would spring for an 800 number!
Posted by: Theresa at December 14, 2005 11:53 AM
My niece is asking for this for X-mas. I really don't think I should get it, but she wants it. I tried to order it and got the same problem with the page (at the end u spend lots of unintended $). I called them and cancelled it. I finally found a place that sells it and I trust ordering it there. QVC.com. I may get it from there.
Posted by: Barbara at December 14, 2005 06:33 PM
I just ordered and was surprised at the amount for S&H. I believe they are very deceptive in their rush delivery advertising. They don't give you a total prior to finalizing the order. Plus my confirmation said 4-6 weeks for delivery. It was supposed to be 4-5 days. It appears that this company is dishonest, crooked and should be shut down. I sent them an email to cancel and will call my credit card company tomorrow. Too bad I found this site after I ordered.

S C A M !
R I P O F F !
C R O O K S !
A RIPOFF, by accomplished ripoff artists, intent on ripping you off.
My wife ordered yesterday through the floam.com web site, and her experiences are as others described. It says $19.95 plus 4.95 rush delivery (by Christmas). You give it your credit card info, then it asks you if you'd like this upgrade and that upgrade, with no indication of price. My wife said yes, assuming this was a legitimate e-commerce web site (i.e. not realizing it's a fraudulent scam), and that at some point she'd be shown a dollar amount and be given a chance to approve or cancel. No, it doesn't work that way. Poof - order processed.
Now we get the confirmation email:
Subtotal: $104.75
Shipping: $39.75
Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery
Your credit card will not be charged until your order is shipped
Total: $144.50
Besides being billed for an amount we never approved, why $39.75 for 4 to 6 week delivery when the "rush shipping (by Christmas)" for $4.95 was selected?
Now, on to WHO ARE THESE CROOKS?
First, when you go to floam.com, your browser will pop up a warning that the certificate they're using was issued to ASSEENONTVNETWORK.COM, not to floam.com. That's not all that unusual though.
The confirmation email comes from thillco.com.
If you do a google search on the floam.com customer service phone number, you'll see it's affiliated with dozens of web sites:
http://www.google.com/search?q=920%2D966%2D6600
But the interesting part is WHO OWNS FLOAM.COM?
Checking the whois database at GoDaddy.com, one finds that floam.com is registered by "DomainsByProxy, Inc.", which specializes in registering domain names for people/companies who want to hide their true identity from the public. I.e., they're there to protect SCAMMERS.
My advice - DO NOT TRUST THEM with your credit card information, or even your email address. You don't know who they are, and they don't want you to know, for an obvious reason: they're CROOKS!

I just called the 920 area code, and they didn't mention any back-order, but luckily I found this web-site and didn't order. I need 5 orders for all my neices and nephews. I'm taking someones advice and I just placed my order through QVC, they told me they have it in stock, and will ship by Christmas. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, and I will hope for the best. Thanks for all the postings to let people know. I also know Walmart sells it, but I need so many, it wouldn't be cost effective for me to buy it there.
Posted by: Robin at December 15, 2005 11:06 AM
Well, count me among the victims. I ordered it today before I knew there was this site, and I ended up ordering TWO sets because I thought I was simply upgrading, not adding. What should have been a $25.00 order was over $67.00; then, when I tried to go back and change the order, it was gone, so I went back on again thinking it did not take the order - ordered just one set, and guess what? Now I have TWO orders for 12 tubs of floam for over $92.00. I have e-mailed in response to both confirmation orders to cancel both orders and have received no reply; I have sent a fax instructing cancellation of both orders; and have left a voicemail message on the phone. All of this to have a lady I work with tell me Wal-Mart had a clearance cart of it last night!! I guess the company knows at this time of year we'll get our kids what they want - all to our detriment. Now I worry about the credit card charges - is this company reputable enough to not scam additional sums??? I'm contacting the federal consumer website with my complaint and am hoping my three requests to cancel today have been heard. Otherwise, I guess I'm out almost $100.00 and have learned again to trust my instinct - I didn't want to order from that website anyway, especially after having to enter your credit card information BEFORE you order!
Posted by: BelindaY at December 15, 2005 12:26 PM
I am so glad that I viewed this site. I was going to order floam for my 7 year old daughter who has been begging for it. Even wanted to give the number to Santa so that he could get it for her! Anyway, I did find it on clearance at walmart, but they only had green, white, and yellow. I was going to try to get other colors for her, but did not order from the site because you could not choose your colors. That is probably the only thing that stopped me. There is no way I am going to do it now though! You guys have saved me tons of heartache and cussing rages, I just know it! I am sorry for everyone going through all of this. I hope for nothing but good outcomes for all of you!

OK, I goofed up and ordered this stuff accidentally (web site didn't give me a chance to review my order, etc..)
How do I cancel??
Posted by: Brian at December 15, 2005 03:14 PM
I literally had read every single post on this board. I too was a victim ... a 19.95 order became a $282 order .... not to mention I got 2 other confirmation emails for $27 EACH. A total of 3 orders I never had any intention of placing.
(to be continued on next post ... some reason its saying questionnable content and won't post it!)
Posted by: *~ Franni at December 15, 2005 04:23 PM
Trying to keep a very long story short. I called the long distance cust svc number, was on hold for ... ready???? 1 hour and 15 mins! I called from my cellphone so that it was a free call (for me at least).
(again to be continued)
Posted by: *~ Franni at December 15, 2005 04:27 PM
(sorry for all the continue's)
I happened to get such a sweet woman on the phone. She said that they have been complaining to the company for over a year about their misleading site but the floam people won't listen.
Posted by: *~ Franni at December 15, 2005 04:29 PM
Well, I as able to get through to customer service (1-920-966-6600)and the lady said she will cancel my order tomorrow. She said it takes 24hrs for her to see the order. We shall see. Note that you may get a "all circuits busy" when you call the number. Keep trying and eventually you will get in. Then you will need to hang on the line for 20 or 30 minutes. Lovely, isn't it!
Posted by: Brian at December 15, 2005 04:30 PM
I also replied to the email confirmations to cancel the orders immediately as i did not APPROVE them and got a response the very next day that all 3 orders were cancelled.
JUST IN CASE, I cancelled my credit card explaining to the card company what happened and that I didn't know WHAT name the charges would come up under. They suggested to cancel the card and replace it, and I did. So as of right now I'm safe.
Then I read all these posts and decided to take the advice of the person who posted complaining to the Federal trade commision (there's a link included on the post). I received a reply back from them stating that first they review the complaint for legitimacy AND to see if it falls under the grounds of illegal practices for the FTC. AND IT DID!!!!! I never had the unpleasantry of delayed shipping as I cancelled immediately. My complaint was based around the misleading site (update means ADD, shipping costs not clear), placing of the order before reviewing, etc. This is the copy of the letter they sent me
"Re: FTC Ref. No. 7278753
Dear Francesca ******:
Thank you for recent correspondence. The Federal Trade Commission acts in the public interest to stop business practices that violate the laws it enforces. Letters from consumers and businesses are very important to the work of the Commission. They are often the first indication of a problem in the marketplace and may provide the initial evidence to begin an investigation. The Commission does not resolve individual complaints. The Commission can, however, act when it sees a pattern of possible violations developing.
The information you have provided will be recorded in our complaint retention system. This computerized system enables us to identify questionable business practices that are generating numerous complaints and may be in violation of the law.
Thank you for providing information that may be used to develop or support Commission enforcement initiatives.
Sincerely yours,
Consumer Response Center"
So I strongly suggest that EVERYONE go to this site and file a complaint. It takes all of 5 minutes. You don't need to know all the relevant information. For the company name I put floam.com and nothing else.
If we can spare other parents from being tortured by their children for this product and get these people shut down ... then I say go for it!
I also plan on forwarding the copy of this letter via email to Nickolodeon so that they have a file number to reference and can research themselves that this company is in violation of FTC laws!!!

CANCELLATION/CHARGE INFORMATION:
for those that have asked to cancel your order call: 920-966-6600 do not hang up even through the long silences..most of us have been on hold for between 30-60 minutes.... for those who want to know how their card will be charged the customer service person at the above number said the charge does appear as FLOAM....keep in mind you cannot call and cancel immediately, it supposedly takes 24-48 hours for your order to appear in their ridiculous system...they asked me for my last name and zip code to find my order..
ps I found the stuff at wal-mart for $6.99 per tub...

Have you guys tried emailing the Wisconsin fulfullment company (customerservice@thillco.com)? If so, were they responsive?

Regarding "Have you guys tried emailing the Wisconsin fulfullment company (customerservice@thillco.com)? If so, were they responsive?"
When my wife ordered, the initial confirmation email came from them within minutes, and my wife immediately replied that the order was placed by mistake and that she wanted to cancel. She received no reply, and by early the next day our card was charged for the "order" (which we feel we never actually placed). Also note that the confirmation email stated: "Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery. Your credit card will not be charged until your order is shipped." The card was charged. Did it ship? We will see.
We contested the charge with our credit card company, and they said there would be no problem - that they would not pay. The also said they received many complaints about this "merchant".

HOW IS THIS COMPANY STILL IN BUSINESS??? I was also scammed into the $60 package instead of $20. After trying the 800 number and the 920 number, and getting nowhere, I ran across asseenontvnetwork.com. This is the company that you are actually ordering the Floam from when you go to floam.com. They don't have an 800 number but I actually got through immediately to a person at 1-219-477-3900. I said I wanted to cancel the order and the woman said it was taken care of. I will still be checking my credit card statements though. Hopefully I wasn't scammed again!

FYI -- I gave up on the phone number and used the email address they gave me on the recording you get when you call. I sent an email canceling 2 days ago and today I got a response saying my order was canceled. I'll follow up with my credit card company to be sure I wasn't charged. I will also be reporting them to the FTC. I encourage everyone else who has had a bad experience to do so as well.

Thank you Sara for posting the 1-219-477-3900 phone number. I got through immediately and they cancelled my order. I ordered it about 30 minutes ago and she was able to find me in the system.
I will NEVER order anything from this company again and will be very leary of these types of advertisement in the future.
I also got charged for quantity 3 when I only wanted 1. It was about $69.
Thanks for everyone's help!

For anybody interested...I have a toll-free number for THILL Co., the fulfillment company for FLOAM. The number is 1-800-436-7160...I just spoke with a gal who looked up my order and told me that it was in the middle of being processed and that there is no way to cancel it. Nice, huh? I will be disputing the charges and having them reversed on my credit card...infact, I'm calling my credit card company right now. If anyone has placed an order today, and would like to cancel...I urge you to call this number immediately.
Posted by: Linda at December 16, 2005 02:54 PM
Just wanted to add this to my post above...I placed my order YESTERDAY, Dec. 15th...and I just got off the phone with my credit card company and they said that the charges were pending authorization already. So now I have to wait until the charge is actually posted to my account before I can proceed with the disputing process. Not only that, but now I will have to send all this FLOAM crap back and eat the shipping cost. GDMFSOB's...I hope this company rots in hell.

Hi Everyone. I too got the surprise of my life when I ordered off their site. After seeing my summary page (no edit page to cancel), I then did some investigating and found this page. Needless to say, I was very irrate. Thankfully, I was able to get through to the company this morning and cancel my order. We'll see how that goes.
I called my local Walgreens this morning and they had just gotten in two boxes of Floam. As a way to protest this horrible company, I bought both boxes and am selling the product in a three piece set. I want all parents/grandparents/caregivers to be able to have this present under their tree. Unlike the Floam company, I'm not selling to make money. Just trying to give others the opportunity to have this by Christmas.

So...has Anyone actually tried the recipes? I love making stuff myself and as a cake decorator, I have some totally AWESOME food colors...but I want to know if the recipes work!! Those few of you out there that actually received the stuff you ordered, was it decent stuff once it finally showed up? Has anyone compared it to the homemade stuff??
BTW, I've made "flubber"/slime/gak out of borax and glue for years and years, never had any toxic reactions. I think the whole point is that the borax forms a chemical bond with the glue and they both change their properties. I'll say this, though, do NOT get it in your hair, the stuff clings to hair like you would not believe. Big brother once thought it would be fun to put a blob of Flubber on little sister's head, and after an hour of scraping we finally gave up and cut it out. Not fun.

I just placed and order through ltdcommodities.com for $15.95 plus shipping. (lot of 3) It ships in 7 to 10 days. You just have to give them a business address in order for them to ship it. I just had them deliver it to work. I'm sure it won't be here for Christmas, but as least my kids won't have to wait as long as most of yours have. I'm so glad I fould this message board. My husband was leary of the floam website because it was unsecure (eventhough it says 100% secure right below the "Order Now" button) Now I'm glad this is one time I did listen to him. I hope your kids get the floam and love it. I'm sorry you all had to go through all of this during the holidays.

Thanks for all of the numbers and info on how to track, cancell and file a complaint about this Co. I ordered the stuff two weeks ago. Shipping costs were double what they advertised it to be ($4.95) and no floam has shown up at my door. What a joke. Oh the things we do for our kids, huh?

Oh what a headache! Who needs this right before the holidays! I just ordered this stuff and was immediately alarmed when it said my order has been processed without letting me even verify it first or see what the shipping/handling fee was. Then I was offered a $25.00 gift card from Walmart, don't do it or else you'll be signing a membership for coupon deals that will automatically charge you credit card.

Esther, I tried the e-mail address they gave me; however, it came back as "not in service." Hopefully, you can cancel on Monday.
Posted by: Kristin at December 17, 2005 05:37 PM
Just to give hope to all those trying to cancel your orders, as soon as I received the order confirmation, I emailed a response, advising them to cancel my order (because of their fraudulent ordering system) or I would be reporting them to the BBB. A few days later, I reached someone by phone (after holding about 15 minutes--through several dead-air silences and recorded messages telling me to continue to hold). She told me my order had already been cancelled.
I've contacted my credit card company just in case. And I wrote an email to Cartoon Network, asking they pull the commercials off the air. And I explained to my son we won't be buying their product because of their fraudulent business practices.
Best wishes to everyone trying to get out of their Floam situation!

Hello all. I guess my waiting paid off. I was going to order Floam for my kids a couple months ago until I came here and saw all the troubles with shipping. I am from Illinois and went Christmas shopping today. I went to a few Walmart's and Target's and they all had Floam. One of the Walmart's must have had 100 of them.

Does anyone know how to get this junk off of furniture? Is there anything that will break it down and disolve it? Fun stuff but not a good thing for kids to have around the house becuase once it gets on something, there doesn't seem to be a way to get it off. Please Help!

I went to order last night and ended up with the typical $80 instead. Found this blog after my order. I called 1-219-477-3900 number as posted above and they gave me 1-800-436-7160 as posted above also. She say my order has been cancelled. Then I let her have a piece of my opinion about the website. She said OK I will let them know. So for now I feel better cause I got a chance to vent. We'll see if in fact that order has been cancelled.

Boy I wish I had read this BEFORE I ordered floam. I thought I was upgrading my order, getting the purple and white for $5 extra, NO! I ordered a whole new order for $25! Now I can't get thru to the customer service # to change my order, and they never showed the s&h until the order was confirmed. $68.00 for floam!!No way.

Floam.............. ridiculous. They are theives. They COULD have had a decent business but they choose to take a very deceptive route. They are lucky they hide so well cuz id whoop a mofo's @$$ for that. I tried to order a 19.95 thing of floam w/ 6.95 rush order came out to 90.00 something w/ no way to cancel. unfortunately i used an atm/ debit card to make my purchase. And cant get issue a stop payment like u could w/ a cc. Anyways I filled a complaint w/ the Federal Trade Comminsion office. and my bank said I could come in fill out an affidavit to get the money back im about to file w/ the BBB. If anyone gets a number that works please post. My bank is trying to find a number thru the charging company. that is just theft plain and simple.

Add me to the sucker list. There website hijacked my payment up to $69.00 too. $22.00 of that was for shipping, they said $6.95 I tried all morning to get through using there 920-966-6600, all I got was circuits busy(go figure). I was however able to get through the first time using 1-800-436-7160. He said my order was already processed and just to deny the package when it was delivered.I guess they are hoping to keep there $22.00 shipping charge. Luckly My limit on my card was not enough for the hijacked charges. I will be also letting cartoon network now how shady these people are.But who is really gunna care?,they are all making there buck. I will never buy anything from Floam, Thillco again. BEWARE

THANK YOU SARA!!
Call the number Sara posted for asseenontvnetwork.com and they will cancel your order.
1-219-477-3900
Pretty appropriate that their website begins with the word "ass"

I like many of you thought that I could modify my order, instead I was given an order confirmation for $90. Of course we attempted to call the long distance number all morning and just recieved a recording that all circuits were busy. I have sent them an e-mail to cancel my order and threatened to report them the the FTC - we will see what happens. Also I called my credit card company, they said they could not do anything until the charges actually posted to our account, and that we would have to watch our account for them to post it. Once it is posted then they can "dispute" the charges. - STAY CLEAR OF THIS SCAM WHAT A JOKE -

Hi, I found this message board while I was looking for a recipe for the stuff, I'd decided not to buy the real thing as it's so expensive. I just thought I'd say - they've started advertising it in the UK, on TV at £19.95 gbp for 4 tubs!
I'm going to have a go at making it. Thanks for the recipes.

DON'T BUY FLOAM, unless you are willing to drop $100- $200 for it. You will regret it!!!

I ordered Floam yesterday as my daughters constantly ask for it. I saw it in the As Seen on TV store a few weeks ago in San Jose. I live a few hours from there, so I went to the website. Big Mistake. I, like many of you, intended to purchase the $19.95 order and ended up with a grand total of $67.75. I called to cancel this morning after finding the 800 for the THILL company (thank you for posting it, by the way). Well, I was told it shipped this morning and I would have it by Christmas. I found it interesting that other customers were told their orders wouldn't be in the system for 24 hours and mine hasn't even been in the system 24 hours and it's already shipped? It hasn't posted on my credit card yet. I wanted the $19.95 pack ONLY. I emailed them twice with no response. I wasn't able to change the order and now I'm out $70. This is definately a fraudulent company and I will also file a complaint. I want to thank you for everything you've posted. I wish I'd found it sooner!

Add me to the list of parents that got ripped off from this company. I ordered on 12/2 with "$4.95" rush shipping so my son could get this for his birthday on the 13th. Well, it's the 19th, and I still don't have it....My receipt shows $7.95 shipping and an ADDITIONAL $9.95 Rush Shipping. $18 for Rush Shipping and it's not here more than 2 weeks later?? It should have been overnight for that price!
I called the 920 number but get no answer.
I was able to contact the Fulfillment company (Thanks to those who provided the number) at 1-800-436-7160
They told me it already shipped and should arrive this week...possibly today (yeah, I'm not holding my breath for that). After complaining, they say that they will refund me $4.95 for the Rush Shipping. No way I can track it because they sent it USPS. Hmmm.....Rush shipping with no tracking number.
Put in my complaint to the ftc....see what happens.
Thanks to all for posting. Nice to know that I'm not the only one that got ripped off.

Oh...and I also put a complaint into the BBB
Looks like they may have had some other complaints....their report states "This business recently came to our attention. We are attempting to gather information on the business."

Does any one know what the entry says on the credit card statement? I would like to tell my credit card company to look out for it but I have no idea what the charge is going to say.

I also was scammed by this company. I didn't even confirm my order. I hit cancel and decided I wasn't going to buy it. Two days later I got a letter from my bank telling me I was overdrawn! They had charged me $83.70 for something I did not even order. I hit the cancel button!!! Now, on top of the $83.70 charge that I shouldn't have to pay, I also owe my bank $99.00 in fees. I reported this company to the Better Business Bureau today. I suggest that the rest of you do the same.

I just accidently ordered Floam twice and in the process of trying to reach the company to cancel I found this forum. I was easily able to cancel my order by calling 1-219-477-3900. This number was posted in an earlier message, but if you missed it, this seems to work.
Good luck.
